ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered Nurse with current license.

  • Commitment to physical, spiritual, mental and emotional health.

  • Active involvement in local congregation.

  • Commitment to completion of program.

  • Commitment to use course info in service to the faith community.

The student will receive a certificate of completion during a Service of Dedication. (All sessions must be completed to receive the GNA contact hours.)

PURPOSE

To prepare Registered Nurses to function as Parish Nurses/ Faith Community Nurses within a Congregational Health Ministry.

LOCATION

Ignatius House, in a suburb of Atlanta, is a retreat setting situated on a wooded bluff over the Chattahoochee River. (Directions will be mailed upon receipt of registration. Go to www.ignatiushouse.org  for more details.)

COST

The Congregational Health Ministry of Gwinnett Medical Center has received a grant which will enable us to offer the 2008 course at a significant savings to all participants:
           $325     First 20 to register
           $475     Subsequent registrants
($100 deposit required with registration)
Meals, accommodations, course materials and curriculum are included in the above course fees.

COURSE CONTENT

Utilizing the Basic Parish Nurse Preparation curriculum, approved by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center, the Congregational Nurse Preparation Course is a six-day, intensive educational program thatfocuses on the main issues and challenges  facing RN’s who would practice in faith communities. It is a time of learning, worship, personal reflection, spiritual growth and  communal fellowship with other nurses and care giving professionals. This course prepares RN’s to establish and grow Health Ministry within a faith community.

  • Spiritual Assessment and Caregiving

  • Ministry of Presence

  • Family Violence in the Congregation

Gwinnett Medical Center is anapprovedprovider of continuing nursing education by the Georgia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. An application has been submitted to the Georgia Nurses Association Continuing Education Review Committee for approval of 40 contact hours.
